Tip 19 Keeping plants happy in hot weather in terracotta pots

Your terracotta pots won't dry out so quickly in hot weather if you line them with plastic.

 .

Line a pot with a plastic bag and fill the pot with soil .

Tap the pot to settle the soil then trim plastic bag below the rim. Push a stick up from below into the hole in the pot to pierce the plastic to let water escape

Add plants and add a little more soil.  Water well and you will now have happy potted plants which won't need watering so often. This worked for me last year. I hope people in hotter countries than the UK might find this tip useful
