Windfall Chutney

A few jars of Windfall Chutney I have just made. Recipe below

One of many boxes of Apples from our four 70 year old Apple Trees. We don't spray them or thin them or pick them. They must be ready when they fall then it's eat, freeze or make into
WINDFALL CHUTNEY
3 lbs Apples              2 Large Onions,
1 cup White sugar     1 cup Demerara Sugar,
I cup Vinegar            1 cup dried Mixed Fruit,
Half teaspoon Salt    1 flat teaspoon Curry Powder
The measuring cup I use is 250ml.  Simply put the above in a big saucepan.  Simmer on low stirring occasionally until all the ingredients are soft and it looks and tastes like Chutney.  Please keep a lid on on the saucepan or the liquid will evaporate.  You would then be tempted to add more liquid like I did once and ruined it.  I always us this recipe because Hubby likes it.

We woke up to find this today in flooded Sussex

We woke up to this this morning ! I wonder how quickly we could build an Ark ?
I went out in my wellies to help the Postman deliver post to our flooded neighbours.
That was more fun than doing housework : )

Childhood innocence. In memory of my pet caterpillar

WHEN I WAS FIVE
My dear Dad told me he kept owls in his beard. I sat on his lap for hours looking for them !
I thought Golden Syrup came from lions because there was a picture of a lion on the tin
I thought I could keep my pet Caterpillar alive by keeping him in a matchbox with a leaf
My pottery caterpillar was made at an evening class in memory of my poor little pet
Do you remember being five ?

Painted terracotta flower pot

I painted this heart pot many years ago.  A lot of my pots were damaged by frost last winter. I am happy to see this one survived

My son made this garden Mosaic many years ago from a kit he bought at Fishbourne Roman Palace.  It lives outside on our patio.  I love it

Cheeky Elephants on slug patrol ! Milk container Beer Traps

My cheeky Elephants are great Slug Catchers when filled with Beer. The Slugs die happy ! Since we got a Puppy my Elephants have to catch slugs in the Greenhouse. Our Puppy runs away with them if they are in the Garden.
